Journey to Nebula Rock Candy

The fourth step on the Journey to Nebula is the Rock Candy Pattern. Julie of Jaybird Quilts said this table topper was the must do pattern on the journey. Well, it did not disappoint! This might be my favorite so far.    Having done the Seaside Pattern earlier, the cutting went a lot smoother this time around. I think its fair to say all the lessons I learned on Seaside definitely came in handy with Rock Candy.  Here's a link to my post on Seaside. I think the biggest challenge here was keeping the pieces in order. Needless to say some of my colors got rearranged during the sewing process and I didn't notice until it was all put together....

Journey to Nebula JawBreaker

The Third Pattern on the Journey to Nebula was the Jawbreaker pillow pattern.  I really didn't need pillow covers, so I made a couple of placemat instead.  Color pallet was inspired by a set of placemats that I had done a little earlier.    I was pretty pleased with these placemats using the Bosal Precut Placemat Forms. They came together fairly quickly and easily. But that's another project..  All that to say I had just enough fabric left over to use as backing for two more placemats. Journey to Nebula Lucky Charm

Journey to Nebula Project # 2 Lucky Charm   The second project on Jaybird Quilt's Journey to Nebula was the Lucky Charm Pillow pattern. My take on this project was a table runner using one of my all time favorite fabric lines French General, Joyeux Noel. This fabric line worked really great because the prints were non directional, for the most part, snowflakes and holly leaves.. it made cutting very easy. You can use a directional print, but you have to be more careful in cutting to ensure your print matches when sewing together.. just fyi....   A few years ago I made a quilt for my SIL in these beautiful shades of red, taupe, and cream.
