Over the last year or so, I've slowly developed a love of Cross-Stitch.
Last year I started a small cross stitch kit with a basic alphabet. I had put off this first project for a long time thinking it would take forever to do all those little x's. I kept making excuses with other projects taking priority, like "It would take too long" or "I don't know where to start".
Luckily my crafty girlfriends and I decided to tackle the project together over a long weekend at the coast. A crafting weekend with the girls is always a good time!
And once I started, I could not put it down. Before long, I finished "I Heart Mr Darcy". All those excuses, vanished. No, It didn't take nearly as long as I thought and the key is to just start. It doesn't matter where. I just loved the finished look.
Pattern designed by Barbara Bangser for the Posy Collection.
I framed my finished cross stitch in a shadow box along with some Jane Austen souvenirs. My girlfriends and I are huge Janeites! Anyway.. back to cross stitch.
If Mr. Darcy doesn't float your boat, there is a whole lot of every type of cross stitch out there. It really is a world of its own. I decided to branch out and try a non-kit pattern.
I found this cute Frida Khalo pattern on Etsy and decided to give it a try.
This weekend I went shopping to my local cross stitch store to find all the DMC floss one could imagine.
Here is the red/pink selection for this pattern. I love all the colors. It makes me happy.
and the greens..
Seriously, DMC floss may become my next obsession after fabric. If you are on the fence about cross stitch.. Give it a try. Its an excellent quarantine pastime.
Leave a comment with your thoughts on Cross Stitch or Mr Darcy. I love both.
